Selection, Properties and Applications
420F contains additions for improved machinability and is not automatically equivalent to conventional 420.
Common applications include precision pins, shaft parts, valves and wear components. The correct steel grade depends on operating environment, hardness or corrosion criteria, machining requirements, and traceability. An engineer should approve any alternative material designation and required temper before production.
