Mozaic Precision Metals provides straightening services for round bars, shafts, and tubes to reduce bow and prepare material for grinding, machining, or further processing.

Our Schaumburg, Illinois facility uses two-roll and press straightening methods, selected according to the material, diameter, length, and condition of the workpiece. We process customer-supplied material and offer straightening alongside bar supply and other finishing services.

Two-roll straightening feeds round material between specially shaped rolls that rotate and flex the workpiece to reduce bow. Machine settings are adjusted for the bar’s diameter and material condition.

Press straightening applies controlled force at selected locations to correct bends. It can be used where localized adjustments are needed or where the workpiece is better suited to press processing.

The appropriate method depends on material grade, hardness, dimensions, and the type and extent of the bend. Straightening results are reviewed against the requirements agreed upon for the job.

Straightening Before Grinding & Machining

Bent bar stock can create handling difficulties and affect feeding during grinding or machining. Straightening reduces bow to help prepare material for its next operation.

Straightening addresses the bar’s alignment. Diameter tolerance, roundness, and surface finish are separate requirements that may need grinding or polishing.

Straightness Requirements & Inspection

Include your required straightness limit and inspection method when requesting a quote. If your specification uses total indicator reading (TIR), provide the support spacing, measurement locations, and acceptance limit so the inspection setup is clearly defined.

Achievable straightness depends on the material, hardness, dimensions, and incoming condition. We review these factors before confirming job requirements.
