430F Free-Machining Stainless Round Bar — 430F (UNS S43020) is a free-machining ferritic chromium stainless steel. Machinability-enhancing additions make its corrosion and finishing performance different from standard 430. It should not be substituted for magnetic 430FR or an ASTM A838 requirement by name alone.

Matching only a similar material name does not establish engineering interchangeability. A design engineer should approve any substitutions against the drawing and the customer-required specification.
