Centerless Grinding Services for Precision Bars and Parts

Mozaic Precision Metals provides centerless grinding for round bars, shafts, pins, and cylindrical components. We process customer-supplied material and supply precision ground bar stock to meet your diameter, surface finish, and production requirements.

Our Schaumburg, Illinois facility offers thru-feed and in-feed grinding, including long-bar processing. We work with stainless steel, carbon and alloy steel, tool steel, nickel alloys, and other materials, with grinding requirements reviewed for each job.

Mozaic Precision Metals offers thru-feed and in-feed centerless grinding for round bars and cylindrical components.

Thru-feed grinding feeds the workpiece continuously between the grinding and regulating wheels. It is well suited to straight bars and parts with a consistent outside diameter.

In-feed grinding processes a workpiece at a fixed position and is suitable for certain components with shoulders or features that prevent continuous feeding.

Our bar-processing capabilities cover outside diameters from 0.060″ to 8.000″ and bar lengths from 3′ to 24′. Available sizes, tolerances, and finishes depend on the material and job requirements. Send us your specifications so we can confirm the appropriate process.

Diameter Control, Surface Finish, and Additional Services

Centerless grinding removes material from the outside diameter to achieve the specified size and improve surface finish. A support blade holds the workpiece between a grinding wheel, which removes material, and a regulating wheel, which controls workpiece rotation.

We review diameter tolerance, roundness, straightness, and surface finish requirements when quoting your job. Additional services include bar straightening, polishing, chamfering, and packaging to prepare material for machining or shipment.
