X15TN Stainless Steel Round Bar | UNS S42025

X15TN stainless steel is a nitrogen-alloyed martensitic stainless grade developed by Aubert & Duval for high hardness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance in the specified treated condition. Its verified designations include UNS S42025, X40CrMoVN16-2 and EN 1.4123. This is a specialty alloy and not interchangeable with ordinary Type 420 or 440C without qualification.

Applications and Heat Treatment

X15TN is a specialty high-hardness grade with nitrogen and molybdenum additions. Its wear, pitting resistance and hardness depend on heat treatment and finish. Aubert & Duval describes cutting, surgical and friction applications. Do not assume another martensitic stainless grade has the same microstructure or performance.

X15TN contains chromium, molybdenum, vanadium, and nitrogen. Its performance depends on heat treatment and the finished surface condition, so hardness and mechanical properties should not be treated as fixed values for every supplied bar.

Specify whether you require material for machining before hardening or stock in a defined heat-treated condition. Include the required hardness range and any restrictions on subsequent processing.

Where your drawing names X15TN, UNS S42025, or X40CrMoVN16-2, provide the complete specification and revision. Any proposed material substitution requires your approval.

Grinding & Finishing X15TN Bar Stock

For components requiring controlled outside diameters, Mozaic offers centerless grinding and polishing, subject to review of material condition and part requirements.

Provide the starting diameter, finished diameter and tolerance, surface roughness, and available stock allowance. If heat treatment will follow, identify any allowance needed for subsequent finishing.

For instrument or tooling applications, include restrictions on surface marks and any downstream passivation or other finishing requirements so the processing sequence can be reviewed.

Material Certification & Identification

Include the material certificates, heat identification, and inspection documentation required for your order. Mozaic Precision Metals is ISO 9001:2015 certified, with order requirements reviewed before processing.
